Nudes

Shooting nudes to me is a thorough study of light and shape using the beauty of the human body.
During a photography workshop in Montreal with the wonderful teacher Jean-Francois O'Kane we discussed the relationship between photographer and subject and the shyness some photographers experience when asked to photograph a person in the nude. We concluded that the shyness is really in the photographer's mind, as opposed to in the mind of the subject. After all it is the subject that asked to be photographed or agreed to it.
Another aspect during our discussion was our society's aversion towards nudity. Why is it that other cultures accept nudity as something so natural, when others see it as a threat?
So really, a study of light and shape can easily develop into a highly philosophical discussion and an exploration of our own minds.
Rest assured that this will not be my last essay of nudes. Thank you to the two wonderful models,Marianel Moscheto and Laurence Robillard for their patience, endurance and cooperation during the shoot.
Have a look at the result.
